White Rose Massage Oil is built on Rosa alba, the white oil-bearing rose, which is a distinct plant from the Damask rose that supplies most rose oil. The two are sibling hybrids and share Rosa gallica in their parentage. Grape seed and almond oils carry it, wheat germ oil adds weight, allantoin conditions the skin. Interesting fact: rose is the most time-bound aromatic on this list. The flowers are picked between six and eight in the morning, and outside that window the oil content of the same flower falls by 30 to 90 percent. There is one bloom a year, in May and June, and the harvest goes to distillation within about a day. It takes upwards of three tonnes of flowers to make one kilogram of rose oil.
