The added ingredient is angelica essential oil, and it changes the aroma rather than the treatment. Interesting fact: angelica is used in perfumery at fractions of a percent, not because it is weak but because it is a fixative. Its job is to slow down the lighter materials around it, so a composition with angelica in it holds on skin and on linen for longer than the same composition without. Here it sits alongside vetiver, which is also a root oil, and the two together push the whole blend downwards: the cold-pressed tangerine still opens it, but underneath there is a damp, earthy, faintly peppery depth that Zen does not have.
